WINCO (G.B.) 1913-1914

Stringer & Co, Sheffield, Yorkshire

The Winco light car was designed by G Bullock, a former LGOC (London General Omnibus Corporation) draughtsman, and used a 9hp 2-cylinder engine of the company’s own manufacture and a shaft drive.  A streamlined version was raced at Brooklands in 1913 and 1914.

STRINGER-WINCO (G.B.) 1921-1932

Stringer & Co, Sheffield, Yorkshire

The successor to the pre-war Winco, the Stringer-Winco, was a light car powered by a 4-cylinder 1,088cc Alpha Engine. In 1922 it was succeeded by the Stringer Type S or Stringer-Smith. This had an 11.9hp 1,794cc Meadows Engine. Smaller cars with 9hp and 11.9hp Alpha engines were listed until 1932 but it is unlikely that any were sold as late as this, and throughout the 1920s production must have been very small.
